About this Blog

Having been active in the German startup scene for over 10 years now I have seen a lot of evolution – and thankfully a lot of improvement. From a tiny and scattered startup scene Germany finally has developed a proper startup community – with Berlin, Hamburg and Munich as the hotspots.

Yet – as Germany is getting ready to develop a professional seedfinancing and VC culture, I found it interesting that there is hardly any information available in English.

All blogs and newsites are in German and the odd article on techcrunch or techmeme are just a drop on a hot stone as we say in Germany. Hence I decided to write an English Blog about what is going on in German startups. Let’s see where this will go…

This blog is meant for non German speaking people who would like a quick overview of what is happening in the German startup scene. I do not interview people or uncover new scandals – I basically summarize what was covered in the German news and once in a while add some information I happen to have. Under “weekly updates” you will find a brief summary what is going on in the German Startup szene. “HOT Topic” will cover any currently hotly debated topic in the German startup szene. Finally “sector analysis” will contain a brief wrap up of each sector (i.e. travel, finance etc.) and the major players in it.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my posts – if you have any questions about the German startup scene please feel free to contact me (see about me).
