myTaxi raises €10 million from car2go and Hinrichs
myTaxi, a German Taxiapp similar to uber in the states, has just received a big financing round: car2go, a subsidiary of Daimler, and Xing founder Lars Hinrichs invested alongside previous investors T-Venture (Telekom) and KfW. Car2go now owns 15% of mytaxi.
myTaxi claims to be Europe’s market leader – it says the app has been downloaded over 800,000 and over 7,000 taxi drivers have signed up (however, I was in Karlsruhe, a fairly big German town over the weekend, and there was not a single registered Taxi – so yes, there is room for improvement). Overall the app is already very polished and anyone coming to Germany should give it a try – a really well done product.
myTaxi will use the money to expand to more European countries – currently it works in Germany and Austria, Spain and Switzerland are supposedly following in February.
