Weekly Update – 2012/01/01: Larovo, Dealnavigator, SoundCloud

This is your update about the German startup scene – all that happened over the holidays 2011:

Larovo – a digital sales person
Larovo is pretty much a decide.com for Germany and aims to replicate the sales process of a sales person in a shop – for instance if you are interested in buying a new TV the system will asks you several questions (how much are you willing to pay? How important is the audio quality of your TV for you?) and then will display the TV it thinks fits your needs best. The price comparison site billiger.de then supplies the cheapest price for the TV.

It is definitly an interesting concept but remains to be seen if users prefer it to actually doing the research themselves.

Dealnavigator – all deals on a map!
Dealnavigator puts all daily deals on a map – from groupon to daily deal down to rather unknown sites like center deals or pro7 products. The user can also limit the displayed deals to certain categrories like shopping or restaurants. Especially if they plan to launch on smartphones this could become an interesting twist an powerfully combine daily deal sites and mobile commerce.

SoundCloud raises USD 50m
the uber-successfull Berlin startup SoundCloud managed to raise USD 50m from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers at a rumored USD 200m pre-money valuation. SoundCloud, which aims to become the “youtube for sounds”, will use the money to expand their userbase (currently 10m) rapidly, especially internationally with a focus on the US.
